Prince Rupert receives long awaited funding to replace middle school
Students at Prince Rupert Middle school had a very special guest first thing in the morning on the first day of school on September 5th.
Jennifer Rice the MLA for the North Coast held a special assembly for an announcement to parents and teachers: the province is providing $126.8 million in funding for the Prince Rupert Middle School to be replaced with a new modern school.
The new school will not be in the same location, where the school currently resides, as it was the location of an old landfill, according to Rice.
Prince Rupert Middle School is a grade 6,7,8 middle school, currently located at 417 9th Ave West in Prince Rupert BC
With funding secure and once a location in the same general area is found, the government aims to have the ground braking within two years, Rice says.
