A BC United MLA’s decision to cross the aisle means that BC’s provincial legislature now has four official parties.
Abbotsford South MLA Bruce Banman announced his decision to leave his former party in favour of the BC Conservatives today.
With the move, Banman joins party leader and Nechako Lakes MLA John Rustad as the party’s only two sitting members in Victoria.
Banman says he believes his new party is the only one standing for what’s right in legislature, rather than for political convenience or correctness.
He cited his rejection of the Federal carbon tax, and the Province’s stance on safe illicit drug supply and what he calls an ideological education agenda as reasons for the move.
With the addition of a second member, the Conservatives join the NDP, BC United, and Greens as the province’s four official legislative parties.
