A controversial plan to develop a pair of lots in Prince Rupert which currently serve as parking has been called off.
In June, the City announced the potential sale of the municipal-owned lots off 1st Avenue East in the Cow Bay area to an unnamed developer.
It came alongside plans to bring additional parking to the area through lots off George Hills Way and 3rd Avenue East.
Recent road work on 1st Avenue will also bring at least seven additional parking spaces to the area, with plans for a staircase to connect it with Cow Bay Road.
But, the plan was still met with backlash from local business owners and residents, who say access to adequate parking in the area is key.
Nonetheless, the City has now announced that the potential developer has pulled out and the sale will not be moving forward.
Development of additional parking in the area will still be going ahead, despite the lost sale.
City officials are still asking those wishing to develop City-owned lots to send proposals to Paul Vandittelli by calling 250 627 5138.
