A series of new dedicated recovery and support beds will help northerners facing addiction challenges get the help they need closer to home.
So far, 15 of the 17 beds are already in place, with six in Dawson Creek, three in Terrace, two in Prince Rupert and Quesnel, and one in Kitimat and on Haida Gwaii.
Two more beds are planned to open in Fort St John shortly, and all 17 will be operated by non-profit providers.
Funded by the province, the operators will follow the guidance of Northern Health’s referral system.
Services can be accessed through your primary care provider, or through local mental health and addictions support services, a complete directory of which is available at this link.
