A pair of upcoming closures are on the slate for the new Haisla Bridge as crews get to work demolishing the old structure.
After two years of construction, the new bridge spanning the Kitimat River officially opened to traffic in July.
Crews will now begin deconstruction of the original, 69 year-old bridge, but removal of the spans will need to be done in two segments.
That work will see each span jacked up above the new bridge, then slid onto it, before being trasnported to the Service Centre for shearing.
Work to remove the first span will begin at 7:30 in the evening on September 30th and continue through 3:30 the next morning.
During that time, the bridge will be closed to all traffic, both pedestrian and vehicle.
A date has not yet been set for the removal of the second span.
