A fundraising campaign has been launched by the National Indian Brotherhood Trust Fund, alongside the announcement of a new name.
From now on, the Trust, which is dedicated to empowering Indigenous communities, will be known as the Future Generations Foundation.
Despite assisting over 184,000 individuals over the past five years, the Foundation has struggled to acquire adequate levels of funding.
That has resulted in the need to decline roughly 55 percent of individual applicants, and 63 percent of group applicants seeking funds.
As such, they have launched their Beyond Reconciliation $100 Million Fundraising Campaign.
It aims to address the lasting impacts of residential schools and uplift Indigenous communities through investments in education, culture, language and healing.
TD Bank got the campaign off to a hot start by providing $5 million to provide the critical resources needed to inspire generational change.
