A recent uptick in hospital visits related to respiratory illnesses is prompting the Province to launch their Fall immunization program.
BC recorded a total of 628 new cases of Covid between September 10th and the 16th, up from the 328 seen just three weeks prior.
That resulted in 178 hospitalizations, with 22 in critical care, though no outbreaks have been detected in that time.
Both Covid and influenza vaccines are expected to arrive in BC in the coming weeks, and the province is urging all those aged six months or older to get both.
Those at most risk, including seniors, Indigenous peoples, long-term care residents, those with chronic illnesses, and health care workers will start receiving invitations early next month.
Everyone else will begin receiving invites to book appointments on October 10th.
Visitors, residents and workers at all health care and long-term care facilities will also be required to wear facemasks beginning on October 3rd.
Those who have not yet registered for immunization invitations can do so at this link.
