Northern Health has issued a toxic drug alert for Prince George, but warns that the substance prompting it could spread throughout the North.
They say a grey chunk substance being sold as down, which is causing an increase in overdose events, is to blame for the alert.
Testing has revealed the substance to contain significant amounts of xylazine and benzos, and up to 5 percent fentanyl.
It is causing severe and prolonged sedation, blackouts, and memory loss.
Users are advised to know their tolerance, start small and go slow, and to never use drugs alone or use them alongside alcohol or other drugs.
