Physician shortages are prompting emergency service interruptions at the Kitimat General Hospital over the next two days.
Northern Health says they are taking every effort to avoid the interruptions, but expect them to be in effect tomorrow and Friday.
Adjustments to the interruption times may be made as officials work to find coverage for the vacant shifts.
Patients experiencing life-threatening symptoms, such as chest pains, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, should still call 9-1-1 immediately.
Those in need of urgent or emergent care will be transported to the nearest available facility offering the appropriate services.
Those who are unsure whether or not their symptoms warrant a trip to the ER can call 8-1-1 or visit this link.
Patients can access Northern Health’s Virtual Clinic by calling 1 844 645 7811 between 10:00 in the morning and 10:00 at night.
