BC’s worst wildfire season on record appears to finally be winding down.
While still high, the 320 active wildfires in the province is the lowest we’ve seen in months, and just 46 are listed as out of control.
Burning along Highway 97, just southeast of Chetwynd, the Mount Wartenbe Fire is the only active wildfire of note remaining in BC.
But, evacuation alerts still remain in place where the Nadina River meets Francois Lake, and around Lucas Lake southeast of there.
Alerts are also in place around Tatuk Lake south of Vanderhoof, and around Great Beaver Lake and Noonlang Lake to the north.
Even further north, an alert remains in place around the Omineca Provincial Park, stretching south to Highway 27.
Fire danger ratings are at low or very low across the Northwest Fire Centre, and open burning is allowed across the Centre once more.
