Search and Rescue crews were called upon to rescue a pair of hikers in the Northwest last week, but were unfortunately only able to save one.
Teams from Terrace and Prince Rupert responded to the first incident near Lachmach Lake on October 10th after being called in by RCMP.
A hiker had gone into medical distress, and despite the efforts of other hikers in the area, passed away before rescue crews could arrive.
Crews were able to recover the body of the deceased hiker and return them to family in the City.
Two days later, Prince Rupert RCMP were notified of another missing hiker, whose last known location was on the Butze Rapid hiking trails.
Search and Rescue crews were once again called on to lend assistance, and were able to locate the man near Oliver Lake that evening.
He was brought to hospital for further treatment, but has since been released.
