They say that criminals always return to the scene of the crime, well it seems the same can be said for water main breaks in Prince Rupert.
A boil water notice has been issued for the city, following a series of new ruptures yesterday in the same area where breaks from last December prompted a state of emergency.
It started with an evening break in the Montreal Circle, near the city’s reservoir, which forced crews to close Crestview Drive to isolate the break.
Two more breaks were discovered soon after, leading to water service interruptions on 11th Avenue, 7th Avenue, Hays Cove Avenue, Prince Rupert Boulevard, and Victoria Avenue.
City crews worked hard into the night to repair the breaks, and service was restored to all impacted areas this morning.
While the boil water notice is in effect, residents should boil all water intended for consumption, cooking or washing food, or brushing teeth for at least one minute prior to use.
