Kitimat Councillors have unanimously voted to recognize Strawberry Meadows as the District’s newest official neighbourhood.
Months of back-and-forth ended last week as council passed an amendment to add the new neighbourhood’s policies to their community plan.
It outlines the community’s goals and the District’s priorities for improving and further developing the semi-rural area.
Under the plan, the District will support its primary use as a primarily low-density residential area, allowing a maximum of 2 units per lot, at a minimum size of 3,000 square metres.
It will also see them support mapping and mitigation in flood-prone areas, add bike paths, improve sidewalks, and develop parks and trails.
