Thousands of Quesnel residents were left without power yesterday as the result of a single-vehicle collision which sent one to hospital.
RCMP were called out to the scene of the collision on Highway 97, south of the City, at around 1:30 in the afternoon.
A pick-up truck had reportedly veered off the road before colliding with a hydro pole, and eventually catching fire, prompting the driver to exit.
Police responded alongside the Quesnel Fire Department and paramedics, who had the driver transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Fire crews had the blaze extinguished quickly, but the collision left some 2,000 BC Hydro customers without power into the evening.
Power was restored at around 8:30, and no other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
