A house fire in Terrace on Tuesday was caused by a resident smoking in bed, according to attending fire fighters.
Crews from both the Terrace and Thornhill Fire Departments responded to the fire at on the 4500 block of Scott Street at around 9:00 that morning.
Thanks to a speedy response, crews were able to get the fire under control quickly and contain it to just the basement bedroom.
A pair of occupants were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation, while a third suffered burns and was transported and later released from hospital.
Fire crews are reminding residents not to smoke in bed, as bed sheets and mattresses are especially susceptible to fire.
