KSM Mining has received the support of Terrace City Council, as they look to move ahead with construction on their self-titled project.
Located roughly 60 kilometres northwest of Stewart, the KSM Mine is one of the largest undeveloped gold projects in the world, based on reserves.
In order to move forward with construction, the company needs to achieve a Substantially Started Determination from the Province.
That means they will need to show that essential work on the project has begun in a real and tangible way, specifically related to physical works.
They say that the $818 million spent to date should be enough to garner the tag, but also note work on numerous access roads, work camps, and other infrastructure work in the area.
If they fail to gain the designation, their current license will end in July of 2026.
