Public Comment Period for Nisga’a-Led Ksi Lisims LNG Project Opens Next Week

Members of the public will have a chance to comment next week on the Nisga’a Nation’s plans to build a new LNG facility in the Northwest.

Last week, the Nation and partners Rockies LNG and Western LNG submitted an environmental assessment application for their Ksi Lisims LNG project.

If approved, it would allow them to build a floating LNG processing facility and marine export terminal on Pearse Island, west of Gingolx.

It is designed to be the world’s largest net-zero LNG facility while producing 12 million tonnes annually over the course of its 40 year lifespan.

With the application now submitted, the Environmental Assessment Office will have 180 days to review the application.

That includes a mandatory public comment period, which officially opens at 9:00 on November 1st, and will run through December 1st.

Prince Rupert’s Moose Hall Lodge will host the first of two open houses on November 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 in the evening.

A second open house will be held at the Terrace Sportsplex at the same time the following day.
