The second annual Sima festival put together by the outdoor artist collective, returns to Terrace this year from January 24 through 28th with activities in Hazelton and Gingolx.
Sima is the lowest layer of the Earth’s crust which connects land and oceans; a stunning image of global connection. Wintering Together highlights the vital role of art in creating kinship with the community and environment.
The Sima Festival was created to help connect and celebrate a little more during the dark and coldness of winter. It is a celebration of winter, focused on reflecting, redefining and fostering individual and collective relationship with the environment. The festival includes art, music, education, community gatherings, and outdoor recreation.
One of the founder/coordinators Taylor Dilley spoke with CFNR about this years festival, funding and what events are going on around town.
