Braden Etzerza and Jeremy Pahl, two parts of the Ts’msyen Culture Society talk about creating a comfortable and immersive space where only Sm’algyax is allowed. The Sm’algyax Immersion Lounge is a first for the All Native Basketball Tournament. Speakers of any level are invited to stop by in the arena side of the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre in Prince Rupert Monday through Friday. There, they can hang out, play games, and converse in Sm’algyax with fluent speakers. Etzerza and Pahl talk more detail about the program, language revitalization as a whole and what they’ve got coming up next.
