Kitselas K5T and The Kitselas Village welcomed people to the community on March 27th for the ground blessing ceremony for the Kulspi Learning Village.
The Kulspi Learning Village is a community project that aims to provide housing, childcare, transportation, mental health and wellness support, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
It will be a safe place to celebrate culture and will be open to everyone, including Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
The funding for the project came from various sources, including industry benefits and government funding.
The village will also have student housing, which was made possible through a partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada.
The anticipated grand opening of the village is in July 2024.
CFNR was on location for the Ground blessing ceremony and later spoke with David Hanson
“Our primary focuses are housing, childcare, transportation, mental health and wellness, entrepreneurship or self-employment support.”
“Village means place of safety and community and a distinct culture.”
