The Tears to Hope Society is hosting the “You Are Somebody” Youth Conference once again in Terrace.
This is the second conference organized by the Tears to Hope Society, with the first one focusing on girls’ empowerment. This year’s conference aims to empower and give a voice to both girls and boys, according to organizers.
Denise Halfyard, Tears to Hope Assistant Director, spoke with CFNR about this year’s event. She said that immediately following last year’s conference, the feedback they received was from the boys asking “what about us?”
“Boys wanted that opportunity as well to be seen and heard,” says Halfyard.
The first day will feature a couple of keynotes and entertainment. The second day will include workshops on body image and positivity for girls and a workshop on healthy masculinity for boys. There will be feature performances various Indigenous and hip hop artists.
