The UBC Institute for Ocean and Fisheries is conducting a community salmon dialogue across BC seeking input from community members about the future of Pacific salmon, to collect local knowledge and promote open communication.
According to the UBC website “The declines in wild salmon stocks in the region have been widespread and rapid, and the timing is consistent with extraordinary marine heat waves across the Pacific Ocean since 2014.”
CFNR spoke to Alara Sever one of the organizer for UBC.and she tells us the goal of these meetings is to identify priority topics for action, research gaps, and local partnerships.
The target audience for these meetings is anyone concerned about the future of Pacific salmon.
The meetings are open to the public and registration is not required.
All meetings will be audio recorded and the information shared will be kept confidential.
