The Prince Rupert Gas Transmission (PRGT) project has transitioned to new ownership, with a joint venture between the Nisga’a Nation and Western LNG acquiring it from TC Energy. The new team, including Bechtel and Ledcor, is set to advance the project with a planned summer 2024 construction program.
Bechtel, known for its expertise in complex projects, will oversee construction management, while Ledcor will support initial 2024 activities. The project will include significant infrastructure development and a revised pipeline route aimed at reducing environmental impact and aligning with the Ksi Lisims LNG project.
The new plan addresses feedback from First Nations and emphasizes high standards for safety and environmental protection. Construction will begin in August on Nisga’a Nation Lands, with a focus on bridging, road building, and worker facilities. The route amendment will shorten the marine portion by 100 km and reduce ecological disturbance.
