The RCMP is relieved to report that 7-year-old Oaklynn Schwedder, who had been missing since September 19, has been found safe. She was located yesterday evening in a forested area that had previously been searched, indicating she may have been moving around during her time away from home.
The search involved extensive collaboration among the RCMP, Search and Rescue teams, the BC Wildfire Service, and numerous volunteers from across northern British Columbia. Hundreds participated in the search efforts, showcasing incredible community support. When the announcement of Oaklynn’s safe return was made, volunteers celebrated with cheers and emotional embraces.
Oaklynn was welcomed back with traditional drumming and singing on Skin Tyee First Nation territory, highlighting the community’s solidarity and joy. The RCMP expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and emphasized their commitment to keeping the family informed throughout the search.
