CFRN news received the following statement from the City of Prince Rupert, regarding the boil water advisory that came into effect September 10th
“The City is currently still on a Boil Water Notice, however we are doing all that we can to flush the lines to improve water quality. Test results have been trending downwards, however we must have two fully clear tests before Northern Health will consider lifting the notice. Unfortunately, this notice believed to be a result of major construction on water lines in the community that are disrupting flows and also contributing to bacteriological exceedances when the water is left to stagnate in the lower-flow areas of our system. As many know, we are just starting a major project to replace as many of our failing water distribution lines as possible over the coming years, and so unfortunately we may see additional disruptions like this one while that work is ongoing. We are doing everything that we can to protect against them, and the long term aim is to provide the community a water system to provide clean, reliable drinking water for future generations.”
