Residents of Kitimat are advised of an upcoming interruption in Emergency Department services at Kitimat General Hospital due to staffing challenges. The Emergency Department will be closed on Thursday, October 3, from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm. Please note that this timing may change as efforts continue to secure staff coverage.
For life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pains or severe bleeding, call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest facility. Signage will be posted at the hospital directing patients to call 9-1-1 during the closure.
For non-urgent care, residents can access the NH Virtual Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 from 10 am to 10 pm daily or use the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program by calling 1-855-344-3800. For health advice, HealthLink BC is available 24/7 at 8-1-1 or online at www.HealthLinkBC.ca.
