In a heartwarming moment for the RCMP, Corporal Madonna Saunderson and her son, Constable John Saunderson, recently patrolled the streets of Terrace, British Columbia, together. After 38 years of dedicated service, Cpl. Saunderson had one final wish before her retirement: to work a shift alongside her son.
Cpl. Saunderson’s career began in 1986 when she joined the Mounties, with her first posting in Prince George. She made history as the first female officer in Fraser Lake and spent significant time working in Traffic Services before transitioning to Media Relations in BC RCMP Communications. Meanwhile, her son John followed in her footsteps, training at Depot in Regina and starting his own career in Terrace this year.
Their recent shift together marked a significant milestone for both, celebrating a legacy of service and the strong bond between mother and son. As she reflects on her career, Cpl. Saunderson expresses pride in John’s accomplishments and encourages others to pursue a career in law enforcement.
