Northern Health has issued a toxic drug alert for Prince George following the discovery of a dangerous substance linked to recent overdoses.
In a statement released Friday, December 6, officials warned about a red chunk being sold as “down.” Testing revealed it contains carfentanil and high levels of bromazolam, both of which pose severe overdose risks.
Health authorities are urging residents not to use drugs alone and to carry naloxone, a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses.
Drug testing is available at Two Doors Down, located at 1126 3rd Avenue in Prince George. Testing hours are 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
This alert remains in effect until December 20. For more information and safety tips, visit the Northern Health website.
