Prince George RCMP’s Problem-Oriented Policing Team and Downtown Safety Unit carried out two search warrants under the Controlled Drugs
And Substances Act and the Firearms Act on the 2600-block of Quince Street on November 29, 2024.
The warrants followed an earlier incident where officers on patrol near Victoria Street and McCullagh Avenue witnessed a man setting a stolen vehicle on fire.
The suspect attempted to flee the scene in a waiting taxi, along with three passengers, but was arrested nearby.
Inside the taxi, police discovered a loaded firearm and suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and hydromorphone.
All four individuals arrested are known to police.
Three suspects were released pending charge approval by the Public Prosecution Service of Canada.
The fourth, 39-year-old John Robert Barton Craig, remains in custody.
Charges against John Craig include arson, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property over $5,000, failure to comply with probation, and possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition. The investigation is ongoing.
