A wind warring is in effect for the North Coast, including Prince Rupert and Portland Inlet. Strong northeast winds up to 90km/h with gusts reaching up too 100km/h are expected near inlets and valleys from tonight through Tuesday afternoon.
The powerful wind are being driven by a building ridge of high pressure pushing arctic air though the region. While the waring-level winds will ease by Tuesday afternoon strong winds are expected to still happen well into Wednesday.
Residents should secure loose objects, as high winds may cause damage or create hazards. Three branches could break and cause power outages are possible.
Motorists with high profile vehicles should prepare for challenging driving conditions, especially on exposed highways.
