First, a Wind Warning is in place for the North Coast – coastal sections. Strong northeast winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour are expected near mainland inlets and valleys today and tonight. Winds are expected to ease by Wednesday morning.
Residents are advised to secure loose objects, as high winds may break tree branches and cause utility outages.
A Snowfall Warning has also been issued for the North Coast – inland regions, including Kitimat. Heavy snowfall of 15 to 25 centimeters is expected tonight through Wednesday, with reduced visibility in areas of blowing snow.
Strong northerly winds could add to the hazardous conditions, particularly tonight and into Wednesday morning.
Snow is expected to ease to flurries by Wednesday evening.
Additionally, a Snowfall Warning is in effect for Highway 97 near Pine Pass.
Snowfall totals of 10 to 15 centimeters are expected from tonight until late Wednesday morning.
Motorists are advised to prepare for sudden reductions in visibility and difficult driving conditions, especially in higher terrain.
Environment Canada is urging residents and travelers to stay alert, monitor updates, and drive carefully as weather conditions can change quickly.
A Snowfall Warning is in effect for the Cariboo region, including Quesnel, Williams Lake, Prince George, and areas south of Highway 16 in Stuart-Nechako.
Snowfall totals of 10 to 15 centimeters are expected starting this evening and continuing through early Wednesday morning. A moisture-laden Pacific frontal system will bring heavy snow, particularly to higher terrain, before easing late Wednesday morning.
Drivers are urged to use caution, as visibility may be suddenly reduced in heavy snow.
