The City of Terrace has announced the promotion of Joel Brousson to Fire Chief, effective December 16, 2024. Brousson, who joined the Terrace Fire Department as Deputy Fire Chief in October 2023, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to his time in Terrace, he served with the Lacombe Fire Department for eight years and volunteered with the Terrace Fire Department beginning in December 2020, while also working as the Emergency Program Coordinator for the Kitsumkalum Band.
Brousson holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and has expertise in mental health and addictions, which he plans to incorporate into his leadership style. He takes over from Chad Cooper, who served as Fire Chief for the past year. Cooper, who previously worked as Deputy Fire Chief in Prince Rupert and Fire Chief in Flin Flon, Manitoba, is thanked by the City for his contributions to the department and community.
The process to fill the Deputy Fire Chief position will begin in the new year.
