FORT ST. JOHN RCMP caught two property thieves in the act on January 4, when they were reported stealing from a construction site on 112th Avenue. At 3:52 a.m., officers responded to a tip-off and arrived to find the suspects loading stolen wood materials into a trailer attached to a Dodge pickup truck.
Both individuals were arrested without incident. The female suspect was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in court on February 25. The male suspect, Jean-Paul Roberts, was held for court and faces a charge of failing to comply with a release order. Roberts also received several tickets under the BC Motor Vehicle Act, and the Dodge truck was impounded.
Constable Chad Neustaeter praised the public’s vigilance, noting all stolen items were returned to the construction site. Roberts will appear before a judge again on January 7.
