A Temporary Winter Shelter will open at ‘Ksan Society’s Turning Points building on Lakelse Avenue at 7:00 PM today, January 10th.
The shelter is designed to address the increased demand for beds during the cold winter months, as ‘Ksan Society’s Hall Street and Tetrault Street shelters are currently over capacity.
This temporary program will provide 10 additional shelter beds, offering a safe space for community members experiencing homelessness.
The TWS will operate seven days a week from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, providing access to snacks, showers, laundry facilities, and a secure place to sleep.
The shelter aims to reduce the risk of overdose deaths, prevent exposure-related fatalities, and ease pressure on emergency services.
The program will run until March 31st.
