Stuart Lake General Hospital will officially transition to the new Fort St. James Hospital and Health Centre today
The Emergency Department at Stuart Lake General Hospital has closed at 7:00am this morning and the new hospital’s Emergency Department will open simultaneously for ambulance arrivals and public walk-ins.
All emergency care will be provided at the new Fort St. James Hospital and Health Centre.
Patients already receiving care in the Emergency Department at Stuart Lake General Hospital during the 7:00 a.m. transition will continue to be treated there.
The new hospital is three times larger than the previous facility, featuring 27 beds—18 for long-term care and nine for acute care.
The expanded Emergency Department includes two treatment rooms, a trauma bay, and an ambulance bay, along with larger laboratory and diagnostic imaging areas.
Located at 606 Stuart Drive East, the new hospital will also integrate the current Fort St. James Health Centre, which will begin serving patients at the new address on Monday, January 20, 2025.
