Police in Quesnel are reporting a rise in mail thefts this week, following the end of the Canada Post strike.
The Quesnel RCMP detachment says they’ve received five separate reports of rural mailboxes being broken into.
Three incidents were near Bouchie Lake, while two others were south of Quesnel along Highway 97.
Sergeant Clay Kronebusch says it’s unclear what was stolen, but warns that stolen mail is often used for identity theft.
Residents are being urged to check their mail regularly to reduce the risk.
