Dawson Creek & District Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm today, January 21, due to staffing issues. Residents requiring life-threatening care, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, should call 9-1-1 for transport to Fort St. John or another nearby facility. For non-urgent health concerns, residents can contact the Northern Health Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic at 1-844-645-7811, available daily from 10 am to 10 pm, or access the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program by calling 1-855-344-3800. Northern BC residents can also book appointments with a pharmacist for minor ailments through the Book a Pharmacist service. For health advice, HealthLink BC is available 24/7 at 8-1-1 or online. The hospital asks for patience and understanding as they work to address staffing challenges.
