The Saulteau First Nations and EDF Renewables have partnered with BC Hydro to move forward with the Taylor Wind project in B.C.’s Peace River region, just north of Dawson Creek.
The project will include approximately 40 wind turbines, generating 200 megawatts of electricity—enough to power 60,000 homes.
With a $600 million investment, the project is expected to create over 150 jobs during its construction and operation.
The Saulteau First Nations will own a 51% stake, marking a major milestone in Indigenous participation in clean energy.
The Taylor Wind project is one of 10 chosen under BC Hydro’s 2024 call for power, aimed at meeting the province’s growing energy needs.
Scheduled for completion by 2031, the initiative highlights economic reconciliation, with local community and stakeholder input helping to guide its development.
