Cedar LNG Partners is proposing changes to its floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility and export terminal in Kitimat, B.C., and the Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) is seeking public feedback from January 28 to February 27, 2025.
The proposed changes include rerouting the 8.5-kilometer transmission line from the Minette Substation downslope toward Douglas Channel, doubling its right-of-way to 90 meters, and creating a new 2.8-kilometer powerline along Bish Creek Forest Service Road. Additionally, the Marine Terminal Area (MTA) would expand from 35.8 hectares to 277.3 hectares to accommodate the mooring system for the floating LNG facility.
These adjustments aim to minimize environmental impacts, improve power reliability, and support the facility’s mooring needs. The EAO will evaluate potential environmental, social, and cultural effects of the changes, incorporating input from the public, First Nations, and other stakeholders.
Feedback can be submitted through the EAO’s new online platform, EPIC.Engage, which aims to streamline public participation.
