Residents of Burns Lake and the surrounding area are advised that the Emergency Department at Lakes District Hospital will be closed from 12:00 pm today until 8:00 am tomorrow due to staffing challenges. Those needing emergency care, including severe symptoms like chest pains or difficulty breathing, should call 9-1-1 for transport to St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof or the nearest appropriate facility. For non-urgent medical issues, individuals can access virtual care through the Northern Health Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic or the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program. HealthLink BC is also available for health advice 24/7 by calling 8-1-1. Northern Health appreciates the public’s understanding and encourages residents to make use of available virtual services during this temporary interruption.
