Smithers has welcomed a new prefabricated classroom addition at École La Grande-ourse, replacing the school’s previous leased facility. This new five-classroom addition, which also includes a gymnasium, adds 70 new student seats, supporting the growing demand for school spaces in the area.
Prefabricated classrooms, known for their energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness, offer the same quality learning environment as traditional classrooms but can be built much faster. These additions are part of the province’s broader effort to expand educational infrastructure in high-growth communities across B.C.
The B.C. government’s investment in prefabricated school expansions has already created thousands of new student spaces, with more underway in various districts. This approach helps provide students with modern, sustainable classrooms while addressing urgent space shortages across the province.
