A devastating sewage backup, caused by city sewer system work, has forced the Browns out of the home they’ve lived in since 1999.
The city is calling it an unfortunate incident—Gerald and Angie Brown call it a disaster.
The sewage flooded their basement laundry room, and later, their washing machine shorted out and caught fire due to the damage.
At the time, five children were living in the home with their parents, Gerald and Angie.
Angie, a social worker with the Nisga’a Terrace Society’s outreach program, spends her days helping the homeless.
Now, she wryly admits, she has a deeper understanding of what it’s like to be without a roof over your head.
Since the incident on February 1st, the Browns have been staying with family and, more recently, in an Airbnb.
But with no insurance coverage for interim housing, they urgently need longer-term accommodations—along with basic household necessities like bedding, clothing, and furniture.
To support the Browns, a GoFundMe cmpaign has been launched by Holly Harris, with a goal of $15,000 So far, $1,725 has been raised.
Every contribution helps a family in crisis.
Let’s come together as a community to support the Browns in their time of need.
