Residents of Williams Lake and surrounding communities now have improved access to team-based primary health care with the opening of the new Williams Lake Urgent and Primary Care Centre.
Health Minister Josie Osborne says the government is committed to ensuring all British Columbians have access to quality care close to home.
The new centre will provide same-day primary health services to people in Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, and the East and West Cariboo regions—helping meet urgent care needs while reducing pressure on emergency rooms.
The clinic, located at 47 Cameron Street, officially opened on February 25th. When fully operational, it will offer in-person and virtual care seven days a week, including holidays, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The centre is designed for those who need care within 12 to 24 hours but do not require emergency services.
It will also serve people without a family doctor or those unable to book timely appointments with their provider.
The project has a total cost of over $4 million, with funding from both the Ministry of Health and the Cariboo (CHIL-TIN) Chilcotin Regional Hospital District.
