The All Native Tournament Committee has selected the 4th Generation Dance Group from Metlakatla, Alaska, to open the 2026 All Native Basketball Tournament.
The announcement was made on Saturday after the committee was unable to share the news during this year’s tournament. Several groups put their names forward, and the committee expressed gratitude to all who applied. Ultimately, 4th Generation was chosen to kick off next year’s event, bringing their rich cultural traditions and performances to the ANBT stage.
The dance group is well known for showcasing the heritage of the Tsimshian people through song and movement. Their performance will set the tone for the tournament, celebrating Indigenous culture and community spirit.
The 2026 All Native Basketball Tournament will take place in Prince Rupert, continuing its legacy as one of the most significant Indigenous sporting events in the region. Fans can look forward to an exciting opening next year.
