On Sunday, March 9, Burns Lake RCMP responded to a disturbance in Grassy Plains involving the discharge of firearms. The incident, reported shortly after 3:30 p.m., led to a search warrant being executed at a residence with the help of the Emergency Response Team. Police arrested 32-year-old Gerald Noth, who now faces several charges, including possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and possessing a firearm without a license. Noth has been released on conditions pending a future court date.
Authorities confirmed that all parties involved are known to each other, and there is no further risk to the public. The RCMP is continuing to work with the Cheslatta Carrier Nation to ensure the safety of the community.
