Northern Health is issuing a warning to drug users across the North to avoid a round, white pill known as Oxycocet.
The health authority says the pills have been found to contain a synthetic opioid that is as toxic—or even more dangerous—than fentanyl.
Alarmingly, standard drug tests won’t detect the presence of fentanyl in these pills.
However, Northern Health notes that if an overdose occurs, the drug does respond to naloxone.
Residents are urged to exercise caution and seek help if needed.
