On April 3, 2025, the Vanderhoof RCMP were alerted to a scam involving individuals posing as a paving company. The scammers offer to pave driveways for a fee, but after the work is completed, they charge nearly three times the originally quoted cost.
The work performed is substandard—what appears to be asphalt is actually packed gravel, which the customers are told will “seal” after a day or so. The RCMP believe the scammers may have already left the area, but they are warning the public to be cautious if approached by anyone offering driveway paving services.
Anyone with information regarding this scam is encouraged to contact the Vanderhoof RCMP at (250) 567-2222.
