Kitimat General Hospital’s Emergency Room is now equipped with the LUCAS Chest Compression System, a state-of-the-art device that delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions during cardiac arrest. This technology is designed to improve patient outcomes while reducing the physical demands on healthcare providers during prolonged resuscitation efforts.
The LUCAS system ensures that chest compressions remain uninterrupted and effective, even during patient transport or other critical interventions. By automating this life-saving task, medical staff are able to focus on additional urgent care needs, improving overall efficiency and care quality in high-pressure situations.
The arrival of this advanced equipment was made possible through the dedication and generosity of the Kitimat community. Fundraising efforts such as the 2024 Smile Cookie Campaign, the KGHF Coffee Raffle, and the Skeena Wild Film & Photo Festival played a key role in securing the funding needed for this important investment in emergency care.
The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation expressed gratitude to all donors and supporters who contributed to this project. With the LUCAS system now in place, the hospital is better prepared to respond quickly and effectively in cardiac emergencies, further elevating the standard of care for patients in the region.
