A man in Terrace was arrested early yesterday morning following a tense standoff with police after allegedly pointing a firearm and threatening to kill someone.
The incident began around 8 p.m. on April 9, when RCMP responded to reports of a man with a gun at a home on Halliwell Avenue. The suspect had returned inside and refused to cooperate with police. With concerns he was armed and barricaded, the RCMP contained the scene and called in support from the Prince George Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services.
The standoff ended around 3:30 a.m. on April 10 when the man was taken into custody, suffering a dog bite during the arrest. He was treated in hospital and later released with conditions and a court date.
Police executed a search warrant at the home and seized multiple firearms. The investigation is ongoing, and findings will be forwarded to BC Prosecution Services for possible charges.
No one else was in the residence during the incident.
