Two artists have been selected to represent Haisla culture along the Haisla Bridge.
After a call for artists started in October, Nathan Wilson and Paul Windsor have been selected to decorate the bridge.
Their art will represent eight clans, the beaver, raven, eagle, salmon, and killer whale, and three memorial clans the crow, frog, and wolf.
Each artist will present four art pieces, and all eight will be backlit so they remain visible through the night.
Nathan Wilson expressed his excitement in being chosen saying that he is honoured to represent the clans of the nation.
While Paul Windsor says that growing up around the area of the Haisla bridge has given him a deep connection with the area.
Haisla Chief Councillor Crystal Smith also says she is excited to see the Haisla culture being honoured in such a way with Mayor Phil Germouth saying that acknowledging Haisla’s history will add to the cultural vibrancy of the community.
Construction on the bridge has now reached the 73 percent completion mark and is expected to reach substantial completion by next winter.
